Jet Li

Jet Li

As one of the few Asian actors to rival Jackie Chan's international appeal, Jet Li has had continued success in both Asian and Western cinema. A former champion of the traditional martial art Wushu, Li retired from the sport, setting his sights on becoming an actor. His exceptional ability in martial arts made it an easy transition, making his debut in the 1982 film Shaolin Temple.

Throughout his film career in Asia, Li has gone on to star in many notable films such as The Legend, The Legend 2 and Fist of Legend, as well as numerous martial arts epics, set against a historical backdrop, as seen in the Once Upon a Time in China series, Hero and Fearless.

Recognizing the star potential in Li, American producer Joel Silver cast him in the action thriller Lethal Weapon 4 in 1998, as well as the lead in Romeo Must Die in 2000, jump starting Li's career into Hollywood. Experiencing continued success abroad, he has recently starred in Danny The Dog, The Forbidden Kingdom and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
