Leong Tsan (Yuen Biao) is a spoilt youngster who thinks he is a remarkable kung fu exponent, ignorant that under his father’s orders, all of his opponents are paid to lose to him - until he meets up with an unrelenting opera performer and Wing Chun master Yee Tai (Lam Ching Ying). Set against the backdrop of 1930s Shanghai, Little Tiger (Yuen Biao) moves from the countryside to the big city in search of his older brother Big Tiger (George Lam), an honest cop working in a corrupt system. Big Tiger is involved in a love triangle with Mary (Anita Mui), a Chinese revolutionary and Ting Ting (Tien Niu), a Shanghai socialite.

Meanwhile, Little Tiger finds himself mixed up with a criminal organization led by local crime boss, and Godfather to Mary, Chin (Sammo Hung). Conflict arises and loyalties are soon tested when a large amount of money is stolen from the revolutionary fund. As a result, Big Tiger soon finds himself torn between the love of his girl and his orders to arrest all revolutionaries, while also being pit against his brother who is on the opposite side of the law.

A royal guard from the Ming Dynasty, Ching (Yuen Biao) is sent on a mission to hunt down and capture a notorious murderer and rapist of thirteen women, Fung (Yuen Wah). In the midst of a hard fought battle, the two combatants stumble on a Tibetan wheel with time travelling properties. Magically, the wheel freezes them in the snow and suspends them in time, until they are accidentally thawed out in 20th century Hong Kong. Their rivalry continues as they confront the wonders of a strange, new, scientific world and vie for the hand of a beautiful woman Polla (Maggie Cheung), who is acting as Ching's guide to the modern age.

After the brutal murder of his wife, a burned out narcotics officer Ming (Yuen Biao), sets out to investigate; with all fingers pointing to the professional female assassin Pai (Pat Ha). After knocking off well-connected drug pushers and underworld denizens, Hsia finds himself not only tailed by a determined cop, Cindy (Cynthia Rothrock), but also pursued by a number of hired guns contracted by a crooked cop to kill him.
