After the gang leader of an underworld society is killed at the hands of his rival, his son Ho (Chow Yun Fat) returns from America where he is recruited to succeed his father and lead the gang. Reluctant to get involved in underworld activities, he decides to temporarily clean up his father’s crumbling business to restore stability and order. However, he is soon faced with violence, betrayal and confusion, as he is dragged deeper into a world he tried so long to avoid.
