Venturing over from China to America in search of his old kung fu master, Uncle Tak (Yuen Wah), Jet (Jet Li) arrives in San Francisco to find his master’s herbal medicine shop Po Chi Lam destroyed. Uncle Tak is also nowhere to be found. Jet soon learns that a former student of Uncle Tak, Jonny (Jerry Trimble) - the hotheaded leader of a kung fu school - is responsible. Jonny is intent on claiming supremacy as the best kung fu master in San Fransisco. Eventually tracking his down his master, Jet is soon targeted by Jonny and his thugs, culminating in a fight that will determine who really is The Master.
